Heating systems installed in Armenia's rural communities

PanARMENIAN.Net - In the framework of Alternative Energy program, the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FRWC) and its General Partner VivaCell-MTS have implemented another project in Armenia’s Tavush province. Jujevan community administrative building that includes the municipality, a kindergarten and an aid station, has been provided with a heating system equipped with solar water heaters.

VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian, founder of FPWC Ruben Khachatryan, head of Berdavan community Zhora Chilingaryan and community residents attended the launching event.

“The launch of the solar heating and hot water systems in the border villages is not just aimed at reducing the heating expenses,” Yirikian said addressing the audience. “Equally important is saving trees from becoming firewood. It is also a unique environmental campaign teaching local residents, including kids, why and by what means they should and can take care of the nature.”

With a population of 600, Jujevan administrative building had not been properly heated for more than 25 years. Instead, inefficient and costly ways of heating were used. The heating system with both gas boiler and solar water heaters is an optimal energy efficient and environmental solution to the heating problem of the building. This system will reduce heating costs by 50-60% in winter and water costs during the whole year.
