HBO hit comedy series “Girls” to end after 6th season: report

PanARMENIAN.Net - It looks like Lena Dunham's wish to end "Girls" is coming true. A few reports are surfacing that HBO is ending the comedy series after the sixth season although the network has not announced the season's renewal, AceShowbiz.

"Girls" will debut the fifth season on Sunday, February 21. Star and co-showrunner Jenni Konner previously told THR that the current season would determine how much further they wanted to go. "Once we figure out what season five is, we'll know whether it's another year," she said. "Maybe it's just one more year, maybe we wrap it up in six. It all depends. But also we're not in the business of running it into the ground. We would like to end in a graceful place. And we'd like to tell a complete story. What that means is that we really have to start building towards an end soon, creatively."

Dunham, who created the show, had expressed her willingness to wrap up the show before she turns 30. "It's really exciting. I started working on this show when I was 23, and I'm going to be 30 so it kind of feels right that this show kind of sandwiched my 20s and then I go off into the world," Dunham said, noting that "America has a tendency to push shows past their due dates."

"Girls" remains HBO's juggernaut and awards season regular. The upcoming season will deal with the six-month time jump which sees Hannah in happy relationship with Fran, Shosh going to Japan and Marnie getting married.
