New Names 6th International Festival opens in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - New Names 6th International Festival opened on Saturday, May 28, at the Komitas Chamber Music House in Yerevan, Armenia.

At the opening, the young musicians performed with the State Chamber Orchestra of Armenia under the baton of Harutyun Arzumanyan and Alan Kirkop (Malta).

The festival will run through May 31, 2016. It is organized on the initiative of the New Names program in Armenia (coordinator, president of the Union of Workers of Culture, Honored Worker of Culture of Armenia Silva Meqinyan).

The festival will be held under the high patronage of Armenia’s First Lady Rita Sargsyan and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia (artistic director and principal conductor Eduard Topchjan), and the State Chamber Orchestra of Armenia (artistic director and principal conductor Vahan Martirosyan).

VivaCell-MTS is the general partner of the festival.

“New Names is one of the most successful projects we have ever supported,” VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian said. “It serves as a unique platform for talented children to present their performing skills.”

This year the festival hosts over 50 talented young musicians under 18 from Armenia, Russia, Germany, France, Malta, Korea, the U.S., Canada, Bulgaria, and Georgia. The participants are winners of national and international festivals and recipients of various scholarships.

In the framework of the festival, a cultural program has been organized for the participants. They will get familiar with Armenia, have a sightseeing tour around Yerevan, visit Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Lake Sevan, and other sites of interest.
