Aivazovsky’s “The Survivor” auctioned for $730.000 at MacDougall's

PanARMENIAN.Net - Ivan Aivazovsky’s “The Survivor” (1892) stole the show at MacDougall's on Wednesday, June 8, Tert.am reports.

The masterpiece was sold for £499.000 (about $727.000), and was previously estimated at f £450,000–600,000 (around $650,000 – $866.000), RIA said.

Aivazovsky’s works have also previously been sold at prestigious auction houses.

The painting “An Ottoman Coffee-House in the Moonlight” was recently sold for £194.500 (about $281.000) at Christie’s. Two other paintings – “Shipwreck” and “View of the Saladin Citadel from the banks of the Nile” – brought £158.500 (about $228.000) and £110.500 (about $160.000), respectively.
