"Ghostbusters" TV series gets green lightJune 22, 2016 - 13:11 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - "Ghostbusters" TV series gets green light. Ahead of Kevin Feig's reboot on July 15, Sony announces "Ghostbusters: Ecto Force" which will introduce a new generation of phantom fighters. It's expected to make its debut on the small screen in 2018, AceShowbiz said. An animated series, the "Ecto Force" will take place in the year 2050. It follows a group who "capture ghosts around the world with help from local teams - and some very cool gear!" The "younger-skewing" project is being creatively spearheaded by Ivan Reitman. Reitman, who directed the first two movies that expanded into a TV series as well, initially developed a third movie with the original stars, but the project was canceled following Harold Ramis' death. He later planned another male-led version but it was canned as well. The upcoming big-screen remake stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. It's also supported by Chris Hemsworth. Meanwhile, an animated feature film is currently in the works with "Clash of the Clans" commercial director Fletcher Moules at the helm. Aside from the cartoon version of "Ghostbusters", Sony is also planning a "Hotel Transylvania" TV series. It will follow Selena Gomez's Mavis during her teenage years. It's expected to premiere on Disney Channels next year. At the same time, a third movie is being developed. Genndy Tartakovsky will return as a director.
