Armenia improves networked readiness ranking by 2 positions

PanARMENIAN.Net - In the Global Information Technology Report, Armenia took the 56th spot, improving its position by two points against last year’s 58th, according to the Networked Readiness Index (NRI) which examines how technology-savvy international governments are.

The Networked Readiness Index measures the capacity of countries to leverage information and communication technologies (ICTs) for increased competitiveness and well-being. It also considers innovation trends of recent years through the lens of the NRI.

The 2016 edition of The Global Information Technology Report by the Geneva-based World Economic Forumassesses the state of networked readiness of 139 economies using the NRI and, under the theme “Innovating in the Digital Economy,” examines the role of ICTs in driving innovation. Also, an extensive data compendium with the detailed performance of each economy in the NRI and rankings for each of the 53 individual indicators included in the NRI is unveiled in the index.

The NRI is based on 10 pillars, including affordability, infrastructure, business usage, individual usage, economic impacts to name a few.

From this viewpoint, Armenia ranks the 9th given the number of days necessary to start a business, and 3rd according to the number of procedures to this end. The Total tax rate stands at 19.9%, putting the country in the 11th position.

Also, Armenia took the 8th spot given the Adult literacy rate, with 99.8% of the population said to be literate.

In the rankings, Georgia took the 58th spot, Turkey ranked the 48th, Azerbaijan and Iran came in the 53rd and 82nd, respectively, while Russia let in the 41st position.
