Armenian soldier wounded in Azerbaijani border attack

PanARMENIAN.Net - A 19-year-old Armenian soldier, Tigran Mkrtchyan was wounded in an Azerbaijani attack on the Armenian border on Sunday, July 10, FRE/FL Armenian Service reported Defense Ministry spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan as saying.

The serviceman was hospitalized at around 5:00 pm to immediately undergo surgery .

Azerbaijani troops on Friday morning opened fire on the road from Voskepar to Baghanis on Armenia-Georgia interstate highway in Tavush province.

Chief of the village of Baghanis Narek Sahakyan said he didn’t hear gunshots as he was on his way to a nearby town, but he did see the patrol cars on his way back and learned about the fire then.

According to him, people had to bypass that part of the road for an hour.
