ICRC reps visit Armenian citizen that crossed border to Azerbaijan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Wednesday, August 17 visited Henrik Aghekyan, the Armenian civilian who had crossed the border to Azerbaijani from Ararat province.

Iren Aloyan from the press service of the ICRC Armenian office said Aghekyan and his family exchanged information about each other through the ICRC employees.

An ICRC delegation is conducting negotiations over the return of the 63-year-old citizen from Azerbaijan. Yerevan is negotiating through the ICRC, as Azerbaijan has been rejecting any direct contact with Armenia over the past five years. Aghekian, a resident of the village of Aygepat, went missing about a week ago. The village mayor, Seryozha Petrosyan, said he suffers from mental problems. Aghekyan had been reported missing on an earlier occasion and is known to have even attempted to cross the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
