An armed group known as Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of Sassoun) stormed a Yerevan police patrol department in mid-July and took everyone inside hostage. Throughout the following days, the group released the captives one by one. After negotiations that lasted for a little over two weeks, the gunmen agreed to surrender to the law enforcement bodies. Three police officers were killed during this period. A total of 31 people were included in the group, armed with 14 guns and other illegally obtained weapons and ammunition. Those 18 individuals have attempted to bypass the police cordons in the most diverse ways, seeking to join Sasna Tsrer, at the same time assisting the group from outside the captured police department. Only one of the supporters, Artur Sargsyan, managed to break through the police cordon and join the gunmen. 15 of the supporters are in custody. Preventive measures other than jail have been chosen for the other three.
