Key CSTO session opens in Armenian capital

PanARMENIAN.Net - A session of the CSTO Collective Security Council started at the Armenian Presidential Palace on Friday, October 14, with the participation of the Russian, Belarusian, Kyrgyz, Tajik Presidents, the Kazakh Prime Minister, and the CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordzyuzha.

The session is presided over by the President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan. The country chaired the Council at 2015-2016 sessions.

Welcoming the participants of the session and noting that Armenia’s presidency at the CSTO comes to an end, President Sargsyan said that Armenia prioritizes the success of the Yerevan-hosted summit.

“We have tried to do our best so that our mutual work is efficient for the benefit of the cooperation of our countries in the Organization and for the development of the CSTO in general. We are expected to discuss a wide range of issues related to previously adopted decisions. Also in the limelight will be a number of documents, whose adoption will set the guidelines of our cooperation in the nearest future," Sargsyan said.

"I am confident that constructive mood and mutual assistance will guide us during this session too, enabling us to endorse and adopt important decisions."

The session will be followed by another one in the extended format with the participation of the official delegations of CSTO member states.
