OSCE mediators to visit Karabakh "within last ten days of October"October 19, 2016 - 15:45 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs are planning to visit Nagorno Karabakh within the last ten days of October, the Russian Co-chair said, according to APA. "We'll pay visits to Armenia, Azerbaijan and Karabakh," Igor Popov said. "Also, we are likely to meet the military and political authorities of Armenia and Azerbaijan. We are intending to review the progress in the fulfillment of the Vienna and Saint Petersburg agreements. Considering the existing working proposals, we'll discuss prospects of relaunching the negotiation process and clarify the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone, which, according to our estimates, has been relatively calm until recently." Commenting on the Co-chairs' recent meeting in Moscow, followed by another one with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Popov said: "At the meeting with Lavrov, the settlement of the conflict, including the results of the Vienna and St. Petersburg meetings were thoroughly discussed. Lavrov has informed his colleagues about the mediation efforts of Russia, sharing the conclusions of negotiations held on the conflict in Baku and Yerevan. The U.S. and French Co-chairs reaffirmed their countries' approaches to the issue echoing that of Russia." Dwelling on rumors surrounding the return of territories, Popov said the issue should be considered together with other elements of a comprehensive settlement. "This part should be addressed together with issues related to the status of Karabakh, the return of refugees, the preservation of a corridor linking Karabakh with Armenia, and the launch of a peacekeeping operation. The settlement process is a single package, and any attempt to separate elements preferred by one or the other side as a priority is not productive," he said.
