  Azerbaijan shelling Karabakh posts with mortars November 11, 2016 - 13:45 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani armed forces continued with their provocations on the contact line with Nagorno Karabakh starting from around 12:15 pm Friday, November 11, using 60- and 82-mm mortars to shell the Armenian posts in the northeastern (Talish, Yarimja) section of the frontline. To suppress the rival's attacks, the Karabakh Defense Army troops are taking retaliatory measures. In a statement, Karabakh's Defense Ministry declared that Azerbaijan bears the whole responsibility for the escalation on the contact line. Around 85 ceasefire violations by the Azerbaijani army were registered along the contact line with Nagorno Karabakh overnight on November 10-11.    The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army. Armenia and Azerbaijan are holding peace talks mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group up till now.
