Armenian 9th grader receives Universal Postal Union certificate

PanARMENIAN.Net - This year, the 45th International Letter-Writing Competition under the theme “Write a letter to your 45-year-old self” was organized by HayPost CJSC with the support of the Armenian Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies and the Ministry of Education and Science. The theme was announced by the Universal Postal Union in celebration of the Competition’s 45th anniversary.

Founded in 1874 in Bern, Switzerland, the UPU - including Armenia among its member-countries which is represented by HayPost CJSC - holds the International Letter-Writing Competition every year to promote literacy and the importance of letter-writing throughout the world.

Participating in the competition was Zaven Antonyan, a 9th grader from Hay Krtutyun educational complex of Yerevan, who was awarded a special certificate by the UPU international jury.

The official ceremony of awarding the certificate to Antonyan was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Gagik Tadevosyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hay Krtutyun educational complex, Armenia Representative of the Armenian Missionary Association of America Harut Nersesyan, Principal of the educational complex Melanya Geghamyan, family members, as well as Managing Director of Haypost CJSC Juan Pablo Gechidjian. Those present congratulated Antonyan and presented gifts on behalf of Director General of the Universal Postal Union Bishar Hussein and Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Vahan Martirosyan.

Last year, a special mention certificate was granted to the author of the essay, representing the Republic of Armenia in the 44th International Letter-Writing Competition.
