James Hetfield: Metallica want to record next album soon

PanARMENIAN.Net - Metallica want to return to the studio to record a new album soon, the band’s James Hetfield says, according to NME.

The metal group’s first album in eight years, ‘Hardwired… To Self-Destruct’, was released last week. In a new interview, Hetfield reassured fans that the wait for their follow-up won’t be as long but cautioned that touring commitments will keep the group busy in the near future.

“We’ve booked out two years [of touring]… at least. So I can’t predict the future, but we start there and hopefully there’s more than that. And I would like to make some new music sooner than eight years, for sure,” he told Italy’s Linea Rock.

“[You get] such a pleasure and a joy of hearing your new music and having other people hear it. So we don’t wanna wait that long,” the vocalist and guitarist added.

Last week, NME unveiled the video to Metallica’s ‘Spit Out The Bone’, as the band shared a visual clip for each and every track on the album.

The US rockers also performed the ‘Black Album’ classic ‘Enter Sandman’ on kids’ instruments with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots.

Meanwhile, James Hetfield recently discussed what the band’s late bassist Cliff Burton would have thought of their breakthrough ’90s material, which came after his death.

“Well, I certainly would have thought there would have been some resistance, for sure,” said Hetfield. “I think Cliff would have probably interjected some different stuff, getting his bass heard and some more musically challenging things, probably.”

Hetfield has also revealed recently that he is a big fan of Adele, saying: “I love her, she’s unbelievable and blows my mind.”
