HBO, J.J. Abrams team for space series

PanARMENIAN.Net - HBO is developing a space series called "Glare" with J.J. Abrams ("Lost", "Fringe", "Star Trek", "Mission: Impossible 3", "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"). "Glare" is an hour-long drama exploring the colonization of another planet, AceShowbiz said.

"Glare" hails from Warner Bros. Television with Abrams on board as the show's executive producer. Meanwhile, Javier Gullon will pen the script. Head of development for Bad Robot Productions, Ben Stephenson, will executive produce the drama alongside Abrams and Gullon.

The space series marks Abram's latest TV invasion after he recently executive produced "Westworld" for HBO. The sci-fi series, also from WBTV, has been renewed for a second season due in 2018.

Abrams' TV credits also include CBS' crime drama "Person of Interest", Hulu's limited drama "11.22.63" and Showtime's comedy series "Roadies". Abrams' upcoming film "God Particle", which is the third installment in the "Cloverfield" anthology film series, is scheduled to be released on October 27, 2017.

Space has become a hot genre lately. TBS recently ordered animated comedy "Final Space", which is executive produced by Conan O'Brien. Netflix is reviving "Lost in Space", which is set to be released in 2018, while Syfy has found success with space opera "The Expanse", which takes place 200 years ahead after mankind has colonized the solar system.
