John Mayer's new EP debuts behind “Starboy” on Billboard 200

PanARMENIAN.Net - Singer-songwriter John Mayer nabs his eighth top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart as his new EP, "The Search for Everything: Wave One", debuts at No. 2. The set sold 49,000 equivalent album units, including 38,000 in traditional album sales, in the week ending January 26.

Mayer has decided to split his highly anticipated album "The Search for Everything" into more than one collection, beginning with the "Wave One" EP. The new EP was released on January 20 through Columbia Records, and it features four songs including the set's lead single "Love on the Weekend" that recently peaked at No. 53 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Meanwhile, The Weeknd's third studio album "Starboy" continues its reign at No. 1 on the chart. In its fifth non-consecutive week at No. 1, the set sold 56,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 36,000 were generated by streams.

The "La La Land" soundtrack holds at No. 3 with 31,000 units, while Bruno Mars' "24K Magic" ascends to No. 4 with 30,000 units. AFI's new album, "AFI (The Blood Album)", rounds out this week's top 5 with 29,000 units. The rock band's tenth record marks their fourth time in the top 10, following 2003's "Sing the Sorrow", 2006's "Decemberunderground" and 2013's "Burials".

The "Moana" soundtrack slips to No. 6 with 27,000 units, while rapper Post Malone's "Stoney" rises to No. 7 with 26,000 units. The final three positions on this week's top 10 belong to the original Broadway cast recording of "Hamilton", which slips two spots to No. 8 with 26,000 units, and Drake's "Views" as well as J. Cole's "4 Your Eyez Only", which descend to No. 9 and No. 10 with 25,000 units and 23,000 units respectively.
