“Game of Thrones,” “Veep” helmers among 2017 DGA winners in TV

PanARMENIAN.Net - The 69th annual Directors Guild of America Awards revealed winners in television over the weekend ahead of the much-anticipated Academy Awards. Miguel Sapochnik won Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series, thanks to his work in "Game of Thrones" for "The Battle of the Bastards", AceShowbiz said.

Becky Martin, meanwhile, took home Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy Series for "Veep" episode called "Inauguration". Other directors who got feted this year included the directors behind "The Night Of", "Saturday Night Live" and "O.J.: Made in America".

Besides handing out awards to TV directors, the DGA members recognized the best directors in movie.

Damien Chazelle won Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Feature Film for "La La Land" and Garth Davis grabbed Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a First-Time Feature Film for his big-screen debut "Lion".
