New Heath Ledger documentary unveils first poignant trailer

PanARMENIAN.Net - Spike TV has debuted the first trailer of an upcoming documentary about Heath Ledger, AceShowbiz said. The almost-three-minute video is a poignant look at the actor's life, captured through never-before-seen footage of home videos and through the eyes of his sister Kate Ledger and friends.

"He was always a director, acting was just a way to get there," says Trevor DiCarlo, a childhood friend of the late actor. "He wanted fame, and then when he got it, he didn't want it," filmmaker Matt Amato chimes in. "Even he's a supporting actor, he will steal the whole show," "Brokeback Mountain" director Ang Lee praises him.

Titled "I Am Heath Ledger", the documentary will also feature interviews with Naomi Watts, Djimon Hounsou, Emile Hirsch and Ben Harper. It will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23 before hitting select theaters on May 3 and air on Spike TV on Wednesday, May 17 at 10 P.M. ET/PT.

Ledger died at 28 on January 22, 2008 from an accidental mixture of prescription drugs. He's best known for his roles in such films as "10 Things I Hate About You", "A Knight's Tale" and "The Dark Knight".
