Iranian tried to smuggle drug-soaked clothing from Armenia to Canada

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian State Revenue Committee has detained a citizen of Iran who was trying to smuggle to Canada opium on clothing that had been soaked in the drug.

The SRV employees first found the 25kg 2-piece luggage at Zvartnots airport in Yerevan on January 10. The next day, the Iranian citizen identified as R.A. who was trying to send the parcels to Canada was detained at a border crossing in the town of Agarak near the border with the Islamic Republic.

Another citizen if Iran, S.E., who facilitated the smuggling attempts, was detained near the Zvartnots airport.

An criminal probe has been launched into the incident.
