Armenia PM hosts Russian Railways CEO for investment talks

PanARMENIAN.Net - Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday, October 8 hosted Oleg Belozerov, the Chief Executive Office, Chairman of the Executive Board at the Russian Railways OJSC.

Issues related to bilateral cooperation and development prospects were high on the agenda.

The meeting specifically focused on the possibility of investing and implementing new projects in the future.

Also, Pashinyan and Belozerov exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in the field of ferry transportations via the Black Sea to Russia.

In earlier reports, however, Russian Railways (RZhD), Russia's fully state-owned railway company, was rumored to be preparing to break the agreement with the Armenian authorities, claiming that the latter are blocking the operation of its subsidiary, the South Caucasus Railway, which manages the Armenian railways. Relations between Russian Railways and the Armenian authorities escalated due to searches and criminal cases against the South Caucasus Railway.
