Former Tavush governor to be named Armenia new High-Tech MinisterApril 1, 2021 - 12:57 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The government on Thursday, April 1 decided to dismiss Hayk Chobanyan from the post of the governor of Armenia's Tavush province. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Chobanyan will be appointed the Minister of the country's High-Tech Industry. The former governor of Tavush will thus replace Hakob Arshakyan in the Minister's post after the latter's resignation amid a scandal over hitting a journalist. On March 18, Arshakyan hit journalist Paylak Fahradyan in one of the cafés in Yerevan, Armenia's capital. The journalist had reportedly approached the minister, who was having lunch with his wife, and asked why he was sitting in a café during working hours. Later, a video showing Arshakyan going up to the journalist and hitting him landed online. Arshakyan later apologized, but also hinted that Fahradyan had used profanity in the presence of his wife.
