EU envoy suggests Armenia, Azerbaijan resume sharing reservoirs

PanARMENIAN.Net - EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar has spoken in favor of Armenia and Azerbaijan resuming shared use of reservoirs on both sides of the border.

"The Joghaz and its sister reservoir, the Abbasbayli, are good candidates for cooperation to benefit the local populations in Armenia and Azerbaijan if agreement can be found to repair and maintain dams, canals and machinery," Klaar said in a tweet.

"Improved confidence between sides essential for this."

Klaar also posted a tweet at the end of his visit to Armenia: "An instructive visit to Armenia has come to an end. In addition to a better understanding of the situation on the ground, including Syunik, I take away memories of spectacular vistas."
