Azeri President's Armenophobic speeches sent to UN, Council of Europe![]() May 11, 2021 - 19:26 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia's Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan has collected speeches by the Azerbaijani President as evidence of the country's policy of Armenophobia and hostility and sent them to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance, the UN and the Council of Europe Commissioners for Human Rights and a number of other international agencies. In his multiple speeches, Tatoyan said, the Azeri leader speaks in the language of force and threat, uses words that demean the dignity of the entire Armenian nation, the entire population of Armenia and Artsakh, makes intimidating remarks that cause tension in the Armenian society. The Human Rights Defender said the initiative will be continued in the future as his team is monitoring the Azerbaijani President's speeches. Degrading attitude towards Armenians was also manifested during and after the hostilities in Karabakh. Dozens of videos of Azeri troops cutting the throats and ears of Armenians have been spreading online since the final days of the war. The Azerbaijanis subject the Armenian POWs and captives to physical abuse and humiliation. The videos depict Azerbaijani captors variously slapping, kicking, and prodding Armenian POWs, and compelling them, under obvious duress and with the apparent intent to humiliate, to kiss the Azerbaijani flag. In most of the videos, the captors’ faces are visible, suggesting that they did not fear being held accountable. ![]() ![]() As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
