Armenian army loses contact with 24 soldiers after intense fighting

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian army has lost contact with 24 servicemen after Azerbaijan's recent aggression in the province of Syunik on Tuesday, November 16, the Defense Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Armenian side has confirmed the death of 1 serviceman, while 13 others have been captured by Azerbaijan. Two combat positions too have gone under the control of Azeri forces. The Defense Ministry said 70 people have been killed or injured from the Azerbaijani side, with the Armenian troops also destroying 4 BTR vehicles, 1 Sandcat armored vehicle and five other vehicles (Kamaz, Ural, UAZ).

The situation in border area is relatively calm as of 11 am Wednesday, the ceasefire is mainly holding, the Defense Ministry added.

"Negotiations are underway with the Russian side to repatriate the servicemen captured during fighting," the Ministry said.
