By 2023, Armenia will reduce number of state universities to eightMarch 16, 2023 - 14:52 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The number of state universities will be reduced from 23 to eight by 2030, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan told a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, March 16. Andreasyan said “strong scientific-research components” must be introduced in all the state-sponsored universities across the country. “An academic city will be created as an infrastructure for the modernization of quality education and science,” the Minister said. “It is planned that as a result, at least 4 of our universities will be included in the top 500 [institutions] on international ranking systems.” According to Andreasyan, educational reforms will start from nurseries. For this purpose, day care services for children aged 0-2 will be established in larger communities to ease the burden of working mothers.
