Criminal case initiated over attack on Argishti KiviryanMay 4, 2009 - 23:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A criminal case was initiated over the fact of attack on Argishti Kiviryan, coordinator of the Armenia Today information portal. The criminal case was initiated under Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (premeditated minor physical injuries). Meanwhile, Argishti Kiviryan's spouse, lawyer Lusine Sahakyan does not agree with the official wording the law enforcement agencies suggest. According to her, "they apparently intended to kill Kiviryan." Reportedly, the police did not find and record any cartridge case at the site of occurrence, although they are clearly visible on photographs made by an Armenian journalist. Being in a grave condition Kiviryan was unable to testify, Gazeta.ru reports. The life of lawyer Argishti Kiviryan was attempted on the night of April 30. Kiviryan was assaulted at 5 a.m. near the entrance of the building he resides. He was beat up, whereupon shots were fired in his direction. He is off the danger list now.
