Court denies motion to extend journalist Lilit Aghekyan's detention

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Shirak First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction has rejected the motion submitted by the head of the Investigative Committee of Armenia to extend the detention of investigative journalist Lilit Aghekyan. The news was announced on Facebook by MP Lilit Galstyan of the Armenia parliamentary faction.

“The Shirak First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction rejected the motion submitted by the head of the Investigative Committee of Armenia to prolong the detention of investigative journalist Lilit Aghekyan.

According to the court's decision, extending Lilit Aghekyan's detention was unfounded and contradicted the principle of minimal intervention as established by law.

I am pleased that the court essentially respected the motion filed by me and the 'Hayastan' faction MPs Anna Grigoryan, Elinar Vardanyan, Aregnaz Manukyan, Armine Kheranyan, and Agnesa Khamoyan.

And certainly, this was also thanks to the dedicated legal work of Zaruhy Postanjyan,” reads the post.
