Azerbaijan eyes TRIPP as link via ‘Zangezur corridor’![]() October 7, 2025 - 12:17 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - At the Foreign Ministers’ meeting of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Gabala, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the strategic importance of launching the TRIPP route, which was first announced during a summit in Washington. Bayramov stated that the implementation of the TRIPP route would establish a direct connection between Azerbaijan and its Nakhichevan exclave via the “Zangezur corridor”, a land route passing through southern Armenia. He called it “a significant step toward diversifying connectivity across the region.” Bayramov also noted that the member states of the OTS serve as a bridge between Europe and Asia, providing crucial transport, logistics, and transit pathways due to their geographic positions. Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, speaking at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, responded to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s statements, saying that the phrase “Zangezur corridor” is interpreted as a territorial claim against Armenia. Pashinyan emphasized that despite the peace declaration signed in Washington, serious challenges remain and Baku’s rhetoric undermines the peace process. Arthur Hovhannisyan, leader of Armenia’s Civil Contract faction, urged Azerbaijani officials to align their language with the terms of official agreements. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington.
