The proposed route would give Kazakhstan direct access to Turkish seaports, Sputnik Armenia reports. “Currently, we move through Azerbaijan and Georgia to reach Black Sea ports. This new corridor would enable access to Nakhichevan and then directly into Turkey and its maritime terminals,” the minister stated. The announcement comes against the backdrop of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s official visit to Kazakhstan. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision.
