Yerevan plans to switch flag, emblem colors to blue![]() December 12, 2025 - 13:36 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan’s municipality is preparing to change the official colors of the capital’s flag and emblem to blue, according to a Facebook post by Hovsep Kubatyan, former head of the municipality’s information and public relations department. The issue has been added to the agenda of the City Council’s December 23 session. Kubatyan shared the official justification, stating: “The color change of Yerevan’s emblem and flag reflects the city’s desire for a modern and minimalist identity, while remaining true to national symbols.” Armenia’s national flag features horizontal red, blue, and orange stripes, with blue symbolizing the Armenian people’s desire for peaceful and creative living under a peaceful sky. “The color change in Yerevan’s symbols represents a new vision for the city, focused on innovation, modernization, and sustainable development,” the municipality’s rationale reads. The change is also intended to improve how the city’s symbols appear in digital formats and align them with new branding standards. The proposed revision is based on symbolic, aesthetic, and branding considerations.
