U.S. outlines agreements after Vance’s Armenia visit![]() March 16, 2026 - 12:20 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - David Fogel, U.S. deputy assistant secretary of commerce and director general of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service at the International Trade Administration (ITA), has commented on the agreements reached during Vice President J.D. Vance’s visit to Armenia, the Armenian Embassy in the United States reported. In a statement published on the U.S. government’s official website, Fogel emphasized that the United States is ready to cooperate with industry partners to promote trade and investment. “Building on Vice President J.D. Vance’s recent visit to Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Department of Commerce will continue working with industry and regional partners to support the development of mutually beneficial trade and investment opportunities throughout the region,” the statement said. The same platform also published a comment by Armenia’s ambassador to the United States, Narek Mkrtchyan. “On August 8, 2025, President Trump mediated the establishment of historic peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan by presenting the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) as part of Armenia’s Crossroads of Peace project. This important initiative opens new routes for communication, trade and connectivity, contributing to stability, growth and prosperity across the South Caucasus and beyond, toward Central Asia and Europe. Vice President Vance’s visit in February 2026 advanced the implementation of TRIPP and agreements in the fields of artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy, defense and capacity building, presenting multi-billion-dollar projects in artificial intelligence and nuclear energy. As Armenia rapidly emerges as a regional hub for artificial intelligence and a key U.S. partner, TRIPP positions the region at the forefront of economic prosperity, innovation and unprecedented opportunities,” the statement said. Earlier, after meeting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said Armenia and the United States had completed negotiations on a 1-2-3 agreement on civil nuclear energy, opening broad opportunities for major projects. He noted that the deal envisages initial exports from the U.S. worth up to $5 billion, along with an additional $4 billion in support for fuel and servicing. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington. The CSTO budget for the current year requires adjustments due to the refusal of Yerevan to pay their share of contributions. Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees.
