MP questions ruling party over war warnings

PanARMENIAN.Net - Opposition MP Kristine Vardanyan from the Hayastan faction has criticized members of the ruling Civil Contract party over repeated warnings of a possible Azerbaijani attack.

Speaking in parliament, she said she could no longer refrain from questioning such statements.

“When you specify the day and say Azerbaijan will attack us, I cannot help but ask — have you agreed on this?” she said, according to Panorama.am .

Vardanyan questioned how officials obtain such precise information, asking where they get details about the date and timing of a potential attack.

She also criticized broader claims made by the ruling party.

“When you come and say that if we are not in power, there will be war… I have news for you — you have been in power for eight years, and I cannot count how many wars and attacks have occurred.

When you say that if we come, there will be war — here is more news for you: we were in power for 10 years and there was no war. Do you see the difference?” the opposition lawmaker said.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on March 19 that certain political forces are advocating revising the peace agenda, which he warned could lead to an inevitable war shortly after elections, most likely in autumn, describing it as a “new September war with severe consequences.” Earlier, he had said the Karabakh movement should not continue.
