Armenia denies Russian apricot import ban![]() May 28, 2026 - 12:09 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Reports circulated by several Armenian websites claiming that Russia has decided to fully suspend apricot imports from Armenia this year are false, Armenia’s Food Safety Inspectorate said. The agency stated that such decisions can only be made by the authorized bodies of the respective countries and must be officially communicated to the other side. In this case, Armenia’s authorized body — the Food Safety Inspectorate — has not received any official notification from Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Rosselkhoznadzor. “We ask the public not to spread disinformation. The inspectorate is working transparently, negotiations are ongoing, and any official information will be published,” the statement said. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision. Kerobyan has said that for the first time in the history of Armenia, the volume of foreign direct investments amounted to about $1 billion. Partner news |
