Iranian envoy: TRIPP poses no threat to Iran

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian government has assured Iran that implementation of the TRIPP project will not create any challenge or threat to the country, Iran's Ambassador to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, has said.

He added that managing the risks associated with the project and preventing possible challenges should be among the top priorities on the Armenian-Iranian bilateral agenda, Panorama.am reported.

"Issues on the Armenian-Iranian agenda should include, and indeed do include, managing the risks arising from this project and eliminating potential challenges," he said.

The ambassador also noted that only 20 days have passed since the signing of the memorandum between Iran and the U.S., but violations have already been recorded during that period.

"Therefore, Iran's entirely legitimate and logical concern regarding the presence of Americans near its borders must receive a clear response, and those concerns should be addressed," he said.

Armenia and the United States signed the TRIPP framework agreement remotely on June 4. The document was signed on behalf of Armenia by Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and on behalf of the United States by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
