PanARMENIAN.Net - The preliminary results of the main stage of university admissions were approved at a meeting of the Republican Admissions Commission chaired by Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan.

Assessment and Testing Center Director Armen Pashayan presented the preliminary admissions data, according to which the Government allocated 12,720 places for university admissions in 2026, including 2,133 tuition-free and 10,587 paid places. A total of 9,620 applicants were admitted to higher education institutions. Of these, 1,875 applicants were admitted on a tuition-free basis, including reserve and targeted places, while 7,799 were admitted on a paid basis.

For the second consecutive year, additional entrance examinations were organized in Tavush Province for applicants whose education in grades 10, 11 and 12 was conducted entirely under the new standards. In addition to the unified entrance examinations, these applicants were given an opportunity to take an additional examination based on the new standards. According to the Assessment and Testing Center, their results improved compared with their previous examinations.

The Republican Admissions Commission reviewed and approved the results of the main round of the admissions competition for bachelor’s degree programs for the 2026-2027 academic year, broken down by university and specialization. The commission also reviewed and approved the competition results for preferential places allocated to national minorities. It was noted that the university admission results would be published tomorrow, July 18.

After reviewing the overall data, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan addressed the organization of the unified examinations and the deadlines for summarizing and publishing the results. She also said that the possibility of conducting entrance examinations electronically should be considered in parallel, given that universities’ role in the admissions process will expand in the future and many universities already have experience in effectively using digital platforms. The meeting also addressed the redistribution of vacant places and several other issues related to the admissions process.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Araksia Svajyan, President of the Higher Education and Science Committee Sargis Hayotsyan, Assessment and Testing Center Director Armen Pashayan, Deputy Director Karo Nasibyan, as well as university rectors and vice-rectors.
