Armenia assesses Ebola spread risk as low

PanARMENIAN.Net - The risk of Ebola being imported into Armenia and subsequently spreading in the country is assessed as low. This is attributed to the absence of regular and intensive direct connections between Armenia and countries experiencing outbreaks, as well as the fact that Ebola is not transmitted through airborne droplets.

The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of Armenia’s Health Ministry continues to monitor the epidemiological situation involving Ebola worldwide.

As of July 21, 2026, the Democratic Republic of the Congo had recorded 2,536 confirmed cases and 1,033 deaths.

Uganda had reported 20 confirmed cases and two deaths as of the same date. One probable case and one probable death were also recorded.

France had confirmed one Ebola case as of June 24, 2026.

According to the latest official data from the World Health Organization, the Ebola outbreak remains active in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Authorities have continued identifying new cases, monitoring contacts and implementing measures to contain the outbreak.

No new confirmed Ebola cases have been reported in Uganda. Following the recovery and discharge of the country’s last patient, enhanced epidemiological surveillance has continued for a 42-day period.

Armenian health authorities continue to follow the international epidemiological situation and implement measures stemming from the World Health Organization’s temporary recommendations.

There is currently no vaccine approved for widespread use against Bundibugyo ebolavirus, which is responsible for the current outbreak, and mass vaccination has therefore not been conducted. Work is continuing to evaluate the effectiveness of candidate vaccines and new treatment methods.
