Gegharkunik awaiting rich potato harvestSeptember 10, 2010 - 10:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Gegharkunik region of Armenia is awaiting rich potato harvest this year. “Although the sown area reduced by 2 thousand ha compared with 2009, the harvest is expected to reach 225 thousand tons,” regional governor Nver Poghosyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter in Vardenis. The governor explained the good crop capacity by favorable weather conditions, adding that the insufficient amount of fast-ripening potato caused seasonal rise in prices. He also said that potato exporters will not encounter problems at the Georgian border this year, as they will be exempted from customs duty.
