Aram Karapetyan: resignation of Yuri Luzhkov can affect internal political situation in ArmeniaOctober 1, 2010 - 16:27 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of New Times party Aram Karapetyan said that opposition dominates the internal political field of Armenia, prerequisites for it being inflation, difficult socio-economic situation. There are all objective conditions for holding pre-term elections, but it has not happened to date, as subjective conditions are not enough yet, Karapetyan told a press conference in Yerevan. “Existence of unified opposition, charismatic leaders and political will are among the subjective conditions,” Karapetyan said. He added that change of power is impossible in Armenia through elections. Nevertheless, it is necessary to participate in the elections to be able to change the situation through post-election processes. “The current party system of Armenia is so degraded that party unions are unable to secure a change of power. Persons, who can work with the public, should be united in a structure to achieve this goal,” he added. Commenting on resignation of Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, he noted that it can affect the internal political situation in Armenia. “Yuri Luzhkov is a business partner of the Armenian leadership, while a political lobbying was implemented in Russia through his assistance. With Luzhkov’s resignation, investments of the Armenian business-elite are endangered in Moscow, what will have a certain impact on political situation in Armenia,” he said.
