Turkey to restore mosques in Javakheti, Ajaria

PanARMENIAN.Net - Georgia gave its consent to Turkey for a mosque construction in Batumi.

Georgian Minister of Culture Nika Rurua stated that this step should be taken to save the Georgian cultural monuments located in Turkey’s territory, Georgia Online reported.

As for the agreement, Rurua said that its terms will be disclosed for the public, as soon as it is signed.

A protocol was formed by the Turkish and Georgian governmental committees, under which Turkey plans to restore three mosques (also in Javakheti and Abkhazia) and construct one in Georgia, while the latter will be provided with the opportunity to rehabilitate 4 ancient Georgian churches in Turkey.
