  Bildt: no alternative to peaceful resolution of Karabakh conflict  June 14, 2011 - 13:42 AMTPanARMENIAN.Net - There is no alternative to a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh problem, Sweden’s Foreign Minister said. “To find a solution, both sides must compromise,” Carl Bildt told a press conference in Yerevan. “Besides, measures should be taken to alleviate tension and strengthen trust in the conflict zone, as I already said during my visit to Baku.” The Swedish Minister voiced hope that the sides will be able to reach an agreement in the near future.   4 14.06.11 - Joint press conference of FM of Armenia Edward Nalbandian and of Sweden Carl Bildt     5 14.06.11 - RA FM Edward Nalbandian receives his Swedish counterpart Carl Bildt       The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army. Armenia and Azerbaijan are holding peace talks mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group up till now. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
