Microsoft is going to expand it stores to compete with Apple

PanARMENIAN.Net - Speaking at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2011, Kevin Turner, Microsoft COO, announced that 11 stores of Microsoft would expand to 86 with 75 new locations opening within the U.S. over the next 3 years, according to Geek.com Back in 2009, Microsoft started competing with Apple in the retail sector by opening its own chain of Microsoft Stores. Since then, Microsoft has managed to get 11 stores up and running within the U.S. That’s tiny compared to Apple’s 327 stores worldwide.

Turner stated that the Microsoft Stores were of value because it allowed them to start “thinking like our customers.” In other words, the feedback from consumers walking through the doors is valuable in defining what products should be offering and how best to market them to consumers.

As well as announcing the new retail expansion, Turner also called out Microsoft’s major rivals on a number of points. This conference is filled with Microsoft partners who could be considering a switch to competitors so a big deal needs to be made about how poor competitors are.
