Karabakh war veterans concerned about conflict settlement process

PanARMENIAN.Net - On July 21, heads of over 50 NGOs, commanders of some 100 volunteers expressed concern about the process of Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, according to Serezha Ghazaryan, Chairman of ‘Struggle for Existence’ All Armenian Party.

“Soldiers are anxious about the process of Karabakh talks, threatening statements of Azerbaijan, new demands of Baku put forward in Kazan, as well as CoE member countries misrepresentation regarding Armenian-Turkish relations and Karabakh conflict,” Ghazaryan told a press conference in Yerevan.

In their statement veterans of Karabakh war addressed OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs demanding to re-consider three basic principles, designed to settle the conflict, and transfer the issue to the legal ground. Also, veterans addressed UN to stop adopting resolutions and refrain from discussion of groundless or little-studied issues. Moreover, they called on Kemalist Turkey and Azerbaijan to cease policy of Genocide, movement and racism.

As regards calls for Armenia authorities, veterans in their statement addressed Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to present in negotiations Armenian side demands, refuse from Madrid principles as well as recall Armenian-Turkish protocols from RA Parliament and nullify them.

“And, to make warlike Baku calm down, we demand to demonstrate destructive capabilities of out new achievements during manoeuvres,” the statement runs.

It is also said in the statement that all veterans are ready to fulfill the order of Armenia’s Supreme Commander in Chief.

The summit between Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in Kazan on June 24 completed without an agreement on basic principles of Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. Later on Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbanian noted that the meeting was not a breakthrough, as Azerbaijan attempted to impose 10 new proposals, thus precluding the possibility of any agreement on the issue.
