Heritage congratulates Armenian people on 20th anniversary of independence

PanARMENIAN.Net - Heritage opposition party issued an address, congratulating Armenian people on the 20th anniversary of Armenia's independence.

“The path to the independence was hard, the price paid was extremely high: thousands of Armenian heroes fell for the liberation of Artsakh and Armenia’s sovereignty. It was each and every Armenian’s honor to take part in the struggle for independence, to contribute to the carving of our victory in the battlefields,” the statement said.

“Along with the Artsakh Liberation War, we were forced to face the consequences of the catastrophic quake, as well as the hardships caused by the Turkish-Azerbaijani blockade and the economic crisis that resulted from the collapse of the Soviet Union. Armenians of the entire world stood by us in those dire days: their material, emotional and political assistance played a vital role in maintaining our Independence. And many of Diaspora Armenians participated in the making of our victory.

We also should not forget the political and financial assistance provided to us by friendly nations that. We would have sacrificed much more had not been that assistance.

The Third Republic that fought for its independence on the eve of the 21st century received a rich economic, scientific, educational and cultural heritage from the First and Second republics, during the past 20 years was expected to become the symbol and the crown of the Armenian statehoods ever existed during centuries. But unfortunately that was not the case: the newly independent Armenia still suffers from injustice, illegalities and lack of freedom.

Now we hope that after the irrational, sometimes even narrow-minded policies adopted by all the previous governments, we would finally have policies that are based on national interests, effective governance and right strategies that would bring a secure and prosperous future to all social groups, all citizens who founded the Republic, and that no Armenian would ever again feel as if he was an alien in his own Homeland and leave it for good.

We will get to this goal by uniting our capacities, by suggesting a new political alternative and with the commitment to create a state that has been the dream of the Armenians who founded the Republic,” Heritage stressed in the statement.
