Armenian opposition reports no clashes with police overnight October 1, 2011 - 12:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - One of the top figures in the Armenian National Congress opposition bloc, Haykakan Zhamanak daily editor-in-chief Nikol Pashinyan said no clashes between police officers and opposition supporters took place overnight. As a PanARMENIAN.Net correspondent reported from the ground, the police just warned that the ongoing sit-down strike and the rally to follow at 3 pm on October 1 is not authorized. Pashinyan said only one police car remained in Liberty Square at night, what the ANC supporters viewed as a means of public order maintenance. According to him, 1500 people remained in the square overnight, although witnesses estimate the number at 200-300. Pashinyan says much depends on the number of people to gather for the further rallies. The ANC is also clarifying there police blocks provincial roads to Yerevan.
