Armenian women push abortion rates to record high – expertOctober 6, 2011 - 15:52 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian women are pushing abortion rates to record high, with some of them having resorted to abortions for as many as 20 times in their lifetime, according to an Obstetrician/ Gynecologist.As news conference in Yerevan, Ms. Dinara Alagyozyan stressed the importance of rehabilitation period following the abortion to avoid serious complications. “Many regions in Armenia can’t provide adequate conditions for surgical abortion; in some cases, patients aren’t even anesthetized.” Ms. Alagyozyan further dwelled on another dangerous tendency among Armenia women who resort to medicamental abortion at home using retail drugs. Ms. Alagyozyan warned against using abortive medications without a doctor's prescription. Ms. Alagyozyan further focused on increased abortion rate among teenagers, citing absence of sexual educations behind the fact. Unfortunately, as the expert noted, there's no official statistics to support the facts.
