Ex-PM disapproves provision of tax benefits to Armenian Church

PanARMENIAN.Net - A member of Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc, former Prime Minister disapproves of providing tax benefits to Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC). “Land taxes should be imposed on church property,” Hrant Bagratyan told a news conference in Yerevan, commenting on amendments to Laws on Property and Land discussed Oct 24 at parliament. As Bagratyan noted, the amendments, envisaging tax exemption for AAC, will give the Church clear advantages over all the other entities. To prove his point, Bagratyan cited the Church who took hold of the majority of the country's resources as the reason for the downfall of Arshakuni Dynasty. -DJ-
