Mikael Minasyan resigns to run election campaign

PanARMENIAN.Net - The former deputy chief of presidential staff Mikael Minasyan explained his resignation by an intention to take a post at election headquarters of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), which, he said, is a priority task in current reality.

According to Minasyan, resent resignations of high-ranking officials and careful choice of members of the election headquarters are part of President Sargsyan’s strategy on the way to holding the best elections in the history of independent Armenia.

Commenting on the possibility for recent series of resignations to come to an end, Minasyan named Armenian President as the only source of information on the issue, Armenian media reported.

On November 3, by the decree of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the first deputy chief of presidential staff Mikael Minasyan was relieved of his post.

As reported on November 1, Armenian parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan will resign his position to head RPA electoral headquarters. As Abrahamyan told journalists after RPA council sitting, after the Party’s suggesting him to head electoral headquarters, he resolved to give up the speaker’s post to more effectively conduct the campaign. Abrahamyan will officially resign his post at November 14 parliamentary sitting.

On November 1, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree to relieve Armenian Police Chief, lieutenant general Alik Sargsyan of his duties and to appoint him as a presidential advisor. By another decree, lieutenant general Vladimir Gasparyan was dismissed as the Deputy Defense Minister and appointed to the post of Armenian Police Chief at the government of Armenia.
