Turkish MFA slams Genocide bill adoption as “irresponsible act”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Indignant over the Jan 23 vote, the Turkish Foreign Ministry has slammed the French Senate’s decision to adopt the bill criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide as “irresponsible act”.

“Turkey condemns this doubtful and irresponsible decision and will take all possible measures to counteract it,” the Ministry said.

The bill passed the French Senate with 127 votes for and 86 against. It will impose a 45,000 euro fine and a year in prison for anyone in France who publicly denies the Armenian Genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire.
