NASDAQ OMX Armenia, Central Depository announce 2011 outcomes

PanARMENIAN.Net - The year of 2011 was quite active for NASDAQ OMX Armenia and Central Depository of Armenia in terms of activation of international cooperation and establishing relations with foreign counterparts. The Companies succeeded to participate in a number of important international specialized events, like Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum and Central Securities Depositories 11 International Forum, as well as to host International Joint Conference of CIS Stock Exchanges and Eurasia Central Depositories Associations in Yerevan. The year was aimed at creating preconditions for capital market development and offering new services and opportunities for market participants and stakeholders.

In 2011 stock market preserved positive growth trend with value traded reaching up to AMD 200.3 mln, about 57% over the same of the previous year. stocks of 7 issuers were traded throughout the year. Market capitalization as of year end reached AMD 53.8 bln, a 2.3% exceeding capitalization as of previous year-end.

On corporate bonds market 91 trades for total value of AMD 708.98 mln were concluded, which is 75% lower than the same of the previous year. In 2011 two new issues of corporate bonds by ARARATBANK OJSC (ARBKB4) and “VALLETTA” LLC (VALTB4) were listed at the Exchange, while corporate bonds of “National Mortgage company” RCO CJSC were admitted to trading in December, 2011.

REPO trading also saw 45.6% reduction of value traded to AMD 2.05 bln. 58 trades in REPO agreements were concluded this year.

Government bonds market was rather active in 2010 with value traded of AMD 5.37 bln. Structure of government bonds trading also changed this year: 39.2% fell to the share of trading in short-term government bonds, 76.8% - in long-term government bonds and 28.9% - in mid-term government bonds.

Value traded in foreign currency market was AMD 283.5 bln (USD 760 mln), which is 0.6% greater than the same of the previous year. In 2010 all the trades were concluded only in US Dollars. Weighted average rate registered in 2011 was AMD 372.93.

Credit resources market saw value traded of AMD 2,734 bln in 2011. This year average monthly value traded 3.5 times exceeded the same of the previous year. Weighted average rate of credit resources declined varied within maximum of 11.5% and minimum of 4%.

In 2011 Central Depository of Armenia continued delivering services to individuals and legal entities. As of year end number of personal securities accounts serviced by the CDA reached 158,422 of which 1,004 were newly opened accounts. The number of companies keeping their shareholders registries with the CDA was 1,616, 132 of which were newly opened in 2011, NASDAQ OMX Armenia press service reported.
