Armenian President to visit Vietnam in first half of 2012

PanARMENIAN.Net - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandian who is on a visit to Vietnam met the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang on February 24.

Vietnamese President said people of Vietnam treat Armenia and the Armenian people with fraternal warmth which is stipulated first of all by their support to Vietnam during the war and the post-war period. “Many of our citizens got education in Armenia, and now use their knowledge to contribute to the development of our country,” he said adding that Vietnamese people is grateful to Armenia for this support.

The President also emphasized that Vietnam deems important development of ties with Armenia and wants to undertake relevant steps in this direction.

He reiterated his invitation to the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to visit Hanoi saying he will gladly welcome leader of friendly Armenia in Vietnam.

In his turn, Nalbandian informed that President Sargsyan has accepted the invitation of his counterpart and intends to visit Vietnam in the first half of 2012.

President of Vietnam and the Armenian Foreign Minister also discussed actions to be taken to further the bilateral relations, as well as the integration processes in the Asian region. Vietnamese president noted that his country may become a gate for Armenia to the Asia and Pacific.

On February 24, Minister Nalbandian visited and laid a wreath at the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, founder of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He also paid tribute to those who fell for the independence and freedom of Vietnam.
